How to Pick a Good Service Dog for You!
One of the number one questions I get is "how do I pick a good service dog?" Whether you're planning on training the dog yourself for service dog work, or you're selecting a dog that has been professionally trained by a private party or organization, the thought of trying to make sure you get the right one for you is certainly overwhelming. There are so many options, so many different breeds to choose from, and a myriad of tasks and sources. From one person you hear that you should go to a shelter and just pick a dog and save a life, whereas another who has a service dog of their own tells you going to a breeder is the the only way to go. You hear the phrase "make sure to do your research," and you think Where do I do that?! Where do you start?
I was spending quite a bit of time thinking about this topic lately as I've been inundated with inquiries from interested parties. It inspired me to start another blog series that is dedicated to how to pick the best service dog for you. There's lot of information on the matter and while I find the information is readily available to everyone, most people have no idea of where to even start. Googling the topic may give you a couple ideas but there is so much conflicting information out there that people get overwhelmed and confused on whats correct. How do you know what's right for you? Well, here's the scoop from a professional!
